Meet Our Newest Board Member: Dr Bronagh Magee
/We're thrilled to welcome Dr Bronagh Magee to the Supporting Communities family as our newest board member! With a passion for sustainability and community engagement, Bronagh brings fresh energy and exciting expertise to our team.
Currently teaching as a Lecturer in Sustainable Business at Ulster University Business School's Belfast Campus, Bronagh wears many hats - from leading sustainability to supporting students with work placements. But what really caught our attention was her genuine enthusiasm for community work and environmental action.
"I knew immediately that I wanted to be involved in the great work of Supporting Communities," Bronagh tells us, recalling her first meeting with our Chief Executive, Colm McDaid. "I have a deep appreciation for community, engaging and empowering community members and placemaking."
When asked about her vision for Supporting Communities, Bronagh sees tremendous potential for our organisation to make an even bigger impact on environmental initiatives. "Supporting Communities is in a pivotal position to engage communities in environmental and sustainability initiatives," she explains. Whether it's helping communities work toward Net Zero goals, raising awareness about biodiversity, or promoting circular behaviours, Bronagh believes we can create positive changes for both people and nature.
Her expertise in business development and marketing will be invaluable as we continue to grow both Supporting Communities and our subsidiary, Empowering Communities. But there's more to Bronagh than her impressive professional credentials!
A County Down native who now calls Belfast home, Bronagh shows her love for community through action - volunteering with Cats Protection Downpatrick in her spare time. When she's not teaching or serving on our board, you might find her out for a run, communing with nature, or getting involved in local community activities.
We're excited to have Bronagh's fresh perspective and genuine passion for sustainable community development on our team. Her warmth, expertise, and commitment to making a difference make her a perfect fit for Supporting Communities. Welcome aboard, Bronagh!
