Ballymena Community Groups Head Northwest

Local Ballymena community groups recently came together to complete a cross-community visit to the Caw and Nelson Drive Action Group in Derry/ Londonderry. The groups really enjoyed getting together to share best practice and to learn from this well-established project. After the success of the trip, the groups agreed that they would like to further develop cross-community relationships in the area.

Dunclug Partnership secured the funding for this trip from the Housing Executive BRIC project. They have been supported by Gillian Forrest from Supporting Communities, Rhoda Walker from North Ballymena Cluster, and John Read from the Housing Executive.

Gillian Forrest said, “It was a privilege to be involved in the project and it was really good to see the groups coming together and learning from each other, not to mention the craic had along the way!  A big thanks goes to Linda Watson and the staff and volunteers from the Caw and Nelson Drive Action group who inspired all of us who attended, and thank you to all of those who gave up their time to invest in the project, they did Ballymena proud.”

Patricia McQuillan from Dunclug Partnership explained, “This was a really good day and I would like to thank the Community Groups from across the borough who kindly accepted our offer to attend the best practice visit including Glenravel and District Community and Residents Association, Ballykeel 1 Moving Forward Community Group, Dunclug Youth Forum, and Ballymena North Partnership.”
